The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Columbus came out on top in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Hank Blalock doubled. Rocco Baldelli followed and he lined a one-base hit. A balk was called resulting in an exciting win for Columbus and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Columbus banged out 7 on the afternoon. The victory was credited to Ron Villone(4-3) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Ricardo Rodriguez(2-2) suffered the loss in relief.
